PRESIDENT & BIODIVERSITY SPECIALIST
Founder and president of Heal the Blu, Nina is a marine biologist with a strong background in environmental DNA (eDNA) research. Her work focuses on elasmobranch and marine reptile diversity, with a broader interest in anthropogenic impacts on marine ecosystems.
CORAL & SEAGRASS SPECIALIST
A Maltese marine biologist with a passion for restoration ecology, Timmy conducted his thesis on coral photosynthetic resilience in Asia. He has also led field research on Posidonia oceanica meadows in the Mediterranean, combining local knowledge with a global conservation perspective.
MARINE MAMMAL SPECIALIST
Sam is a marine ecologist with a focus on cetacean distribution. He has worked extensively on bottlenose dolphin populations in the Shannon Estuary (Ireland), bringing valuable expertise in marine mammal monitoring and governance to Heal the Blu's leadership.
SEABIRD SPECIALIST
Currently a PhD candidate at La Rochelle Université, Josephine specializes in Arctic seabirds. Her research explores how environmental contaminants, shifting ecological conditions, and gut microbiota influence seabird behavior and health, contributing key insights into sentinel species and climate change.
INTERN ON DOLPHIN BEHAVIOUR
Currently pursuing her studies at Université de La Rochelle, Selene joins the team as an intern to support research on bottlenose dolphin populations. She contributes to our aerial survey and data analysis efforts to better understand how environmental and human-driven factors influence dolphin distribution and behavior.
WILDLIFE CONSERVATION & DOCUMENTARY
Leah brings her deep-rooted passion for wildlife with experience in biodiversity monitoring across the African plains of South Africa. As an aspiring documentarist, she’s driven by the power of storytelling to spark awareness and protect the marine world.
